Space candy captain Mees

Aviodrome in Lelystad and candy workshop in Nijkerk – Today Mees prepped for his day and then headed out to Aviodrome in Lelystad for Space College. First Mees put on his lab coat. Then he listened to the professor explain what Space College was and what needed to be done. With a checklist in hand, Mees was off with different activities to complete. First up, Mees needed to see how tough a space traveler he was. As an astronaut, you love to explore the unknown. So Mees put his hands into boxes with unknown mysteries inside. Spannend! Time next for navigating through the solar system. Here, Mees had to put all the planets back in their correct positions in the Milky Way. And he did it! Next Mees had to check how quick his reaction time was. For this, he pressed a button at the precise moment two laser lights matched up. Next task was to balance through space. This was a challenge; but with some creativity, Mees succeeded. Balancing different objects on his head and arms. Wow! The following activity was lifting heavy bags, which of course aren’t that heavy in space. But Mees showed his muscles and easily completed this activity. Finally, time to gaze at the stars and identify different constellations. Mees did great and earned his astronaut badge! Congratulations!!  🧑‍🚀

Mees went to a making healthy candy workshop in Nijkerk. Mees met the chef (Chef Torrie) and listened to his instructions. Then Mees got busy making candy. He unwrapped a package to find dried dates, apricots and coconut. He used these to make his own candy necklace. He kneaded, sliced and rolled the fruits; then shaped them into candies which he threaded onto a string. Tada! Mees had his own (healthy) candy necklace! While working, Mees also tried a strawberry lollipop. But he didn’t find it that tasty. Mees also decorated his own edible paper (made from potato starch) with edible paint (made from red beet). He stamped shapes and a smiley faced potato into the paint and then on his paper. He also painted his name. And after all that fun, Mees got to taste his decorated paper. He enjoyed putting it into his mouth, but didn’t really like it after that.

Back at the logeerhuis, Mees got to relax on the waterbed. Then he chilled with everyone while in his relax chair. Finally cleaning up and prepping for bed. Slaaplekker Mees! – Klik ‘read more’ voor meer foto’s  – Laura Lynn
