Mees ❤️ kip

Kinderboerderij  Presikhaaf in Arnhem – This morning, Mees and I had big plans to go to LLs daughter’s sponsorloop. We did our best to be quick so we could be on time. Quite the challenge, and…we almost did it. We arrived later, but with still enough time to see Keziah running several laps. She did great and Mees cheered her on. In total, she ran 14 laps! Wow! After this Mees had a short walk and then relaxed on the mat at LLs house. He had a lot of fun with Keziah and Josiah.

Went to Kinderboerderij Presikhaaf for an activity with Natuur Centrum Arnhem. Van ei tot kuiken! Mees learned a lot about chickens. He started out in the broedstal (hatching room). He saw photos of the hatching process of an egg and was shown the incubator with almost two dozen eggs. A tray was taken out and each egg was inspected to see if a baby chick was growing inside. The farm worker used a flashlight to show Mees if it looked darker inside and had lines (a chick growing) or if the light brightened the whole egg inside (no chick). After the incubator, the eggs would be moved to an uitkomstmachine to hatch.  After 2-3 weeks, the chicks moved on through a few more cages inside the broedstal. Mees got to hold two of the chicks. 1,5 weeks old and 3-4 weeks. He found the chicks a bit strange at first, but was curious and started smiling soon enough. He felt the claws, feathers and beak. After this, we went to another building with chicks 6-8 weeks old. Mees helped prep their food by pouring it into their feeding bowls. Then he got to pet a Baardkuif Krielhoen. That was cool! The last building was where eggs were laid and two eggs were  found. Mees is an egg to chicken expert now!! After this activity, Mees had fun exploring other animals at the farm, walking through an insect farm and checking out a tractor and a wall showing how he compared in size to different animals. Back to the logeerhuis after this to relax.
