11 juni 2024NXT Museum in Amsterdam & Avond4daagse in Putten – Went to Nxt Museum in Amsterdam with Joost, to see new digital artworks. Mees got to immerse himself in large scale multi-sensory exhibitions. Very interesting and he enjoyed. Some exhibits explored… Facial recognition where Mees’s face appeared on the wall after moving around in the room. Not sure if Mees realized his picture was on the wall, but he was watching the large board where the pictures popped up. Another room showed a 3D representation of ourselves through lights. The lights reflected Mees’s movements as he moved. Swarm behavior was also seen in this room and Mees watched lights move together like a school of fish. He was fascinated by this! Moving on, Mees entered rooms focusing on the flocking behavior of birds. He especially enjoyed the large screens. Next, a dark room with lights and fog. Mees enjoyed going through the light rays. After this, a room with a robot called 15 points. Having actually 14 points of light, it would move in a way that looked like a person walking. The last exhibit was a giant moving screen with pictures, music and sounds. It was a bit disorienting and Mees had a lot to take in. He wasn’t super enthusiastic, but he looked around a lot. Mees completed the digital kids quiz during our visit and earned his official Nxt Museum Cyborg button. After leaving the museum, we stopped for a break at the cafe. Then headed back to the musesum.
Mees went to Putten to participate in a 10km walk with the kids of LL. This was the last day of the Avond4daagse. First, Mees joined in a pizza dinner and ice cream. Then it was off to the where the walk would begin. Music, dancing and lots of fun before it started. Mees had to take in all the people and noise. He was a little quiet at the start of the walk, but before long he was laughing and enjoying! He especially enjoyed the company of LL’s daughter! Lots of silliness between the two. Towards the end of the walk, Mees passed by the mayor. After it was over, we had only walked about 7km, instead not 10km. The last night was a little different in km, but Mees did great and it went well. Should sleep well tonight!!
